I love Ginny's idea over at Small Things where she does a weekly Wednesday post highlighting a current read and a current handmade project. Since I operate in much the same way...toting a bag around with me containing a book and a project...ready for an opportunity to work on either...I have accepted her linking invitation.
{Yuck...I took this pic after dark last night with the lamp on...next time I'll surely try with sunlight.}
I picked up another Lisa Samson {she's my favorite, dontcha know!!} book last week. This one is a pretty lighthearted read...from the p.o.v. of a teenage girl. I may be done with it by the end of the week. Of course, it is the third in a series...haven't read the other ones, yet. That, apparently, is my M.O.
And I'm knitting a Christmas skirt for Bean...right under her nose. She keeps asking what it is and I answer that I haven't decided yet. Is that wrong?

I don't think its wrong at all. My Mom used to sew for me right under my nose and tell me it was for my cousin (and I fell for it over and over again because sometimes it was) and I always LOVED finding out it was really for me..made me feel so special!
The yarn looks really soft. I do that to my kids too. :)
I have a friend who goes to church with Lisa Samson! She's great!
Haha, that isn't wrong...how funny. I bet she has no clue. I'm reading a book for teens...they are fun fast reads!
The yarn is lovely, it will be beautiful :)
A skirt? How cool. And no it isn't wrong when it's a Christmas surprise. Can't wait to see the finished product.
Ha, ha ~ I love it ~ that's the best kind of "secret" ~ just don't forget and hold it up to her to check the fit. :>) It will be such a nice surprise for her. Cheers~
So funny. I'll be doing a lot of "secret" making soon as well. While they're so young, we can get away with it! Nice meeting you...
Is Lisa Samson a Christian author? My daughter loves Karen Kingsbury and loves to read but she's about done with all her books. I hate picking books off the shelf, thumbing through them, and "hoping" they are appropriate for my teenager. We don't even GO to the teen section anymore, we have had some REALLY BAD experiences! Luckily she's a good enough Christian girl to lay the book down in the middle if it gets inappropriate but she gets bummed because she's into the story. Insights please?
No more wrong than my evasive, "um, some people really love to believe in Santa Claus - it's fun, isn't it? what do you think ..." I continually evade and they continue to declare "it's you! you are Santa! are you?" I'm a big fat Christmas liar!!!
re Lisa Samson - the adult books are for adults, but the teen ones would be great, Justina! Has she tried Grace Livingston Hill - I love those (some are rather formulaic) and imagine my little girls forming lovely ideas of godly men and women and families from her stories.
Looks like it will be a beautiful skirt! Sometimes when Larkspur asks me who I am knitting for I just tell her, "it's for a little girl I know." Of course she always figures out who that little girl is!
I can't wait to see how your skirt turns out! How neat :) I'm just finishing up a pair of fingerless gloves for my little girl as a surpirse and she keeps asking me what I making so I told a little fib to so she wouldn't know they were hers *grin*.
